The Atlantic migration route runs from the coast of West Africa to the Canary Islands. The crossing is one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world. According to non-governmental organisations, nearly 10,000 people may have lost their lives in 2024, whilst the official figure is ten times lower.

As a documentary that helps us understand the motivations behind migration – even when it involves travelling along deadly routes – fuelled by the power of images of a better world far from one’s country of origin. This is a need recognised by all peoples of the world at some point or in some era when they, too, migrated.
