Amina Souko set up her own organisation, Red Aminata, with the aim of helping and supporting African women living in Spain, to combat female genital mutilation, human trafficking and abuse against them. This is something she experienced herself, and through this network of women she is trying to ensure that other women – and their daughters – do not have to suffer the same fate. It is a small solidarity project through which she hopes to inspire others to follow in her footsteps, so that there will be more women – more ‘Aminatas’ – helping other African women.
