At the age of 90, Pitu walks fast, as if he were on the run. This anonymous old man probably got used to it years ago: fleeing from Franco’s regime, from the refugee camp in Algiers, from the Vichy government’s labour camps, from the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane, from the Nazi concentration camps… . But nobody knows Pitu’s past, not even his son. Like so many others, to avoid Franco’s reprisals on his return from exile, he decided to keep his story in the back rooms of his memory, where it remained for 70 years. Nowadays, Pitu goes every day to look after Mercè, his wife. He is aware that if he did not do so, she would soon no longer remember him because of Alzheimer’s disease. While he dusts off documents from the past, Pitu decides to return to the places he escaped from in order to undertake what, paradoxically, will be his last escape, that of oblivion.

FICNOVA reconoce en la película el esfuerzo para mostrar cómo los daños vividos que no son integrados positivamente, nos restan energía, al quedar enredada nuestra mente tratando de resolverlos. No sirve el olvido, ni tampoco puede reescribirse la historia negándola. En el documental se abordan los hechos no solo para no olvidar, si no sobre todo para aprender y no volver a repetirlos, reconociendo la necesidad de un cambio profundo.
