“Atrato is Life” is a short documentary that tells the story of how the armed conflict impacted the Atrato River and how the Atrato people, faced with a destructive bloc of armed actors and extractive economies, resisted in order to preserve their way of life. Produced by the Foro Interétnico Solidaridad Chocó y Siembra, the documentary shows how the logic of war has mutated over time, moving from periods of intense disputes to periods of economic pragmatism, leaving enormous socio-environmental impacts in its wake. All this led to the erosion of the ethnic communities’ own systems of territorial administration, altering their economic, productive, cultural and governmental logics.
