After the first selection from among the 237 productions received from 33 countries that participated in this edition, the international team wants to recognise the most notable aspects of active nonviolence that are transmitted in the 69 selected works.
We highlight the gala held on 7 October, in the auditorium of the University of Distance Education (UNED) of its Associated Centre of the Escuelas Pías in Madrid, where the finalists and winners of the III FICNOVA 2016 were presented.
The event was attended by some of the film directors from Argentina, Colombia and Italy, as well as a representative of the Consulate of Burkina Faso in Madrid.
In this edition, FICNOVA admitted three films out of competition to which it awarded the Honourable Mention
“Silo. Un camino espiritual” by Pablo Lavín (Chile), awarded for its contribution to sharing and disseminating the transcendental reference to nonviolence in Silo’s work. The award ceremony took place on 15 September at the Cine Callao in Madrid. Also to the film “Silo” by Leandro Bartoletti (Argentina), for helping to bring us closer to Silo (Mario Rodríguez Cobos), the greatest recent reference of nonviolence, ignored by a poor materialistic culture that exhausts itself in nonmeaning. And finally to the documentary “Beyond Revenge” by Álvaro Orús and Luz Jahnen (Spain – Germany) for its contribution that will help us to become aware of the mechanisms of violence and revenge in us and in society, allowing us to detach ourselves from them.
